Our goal is to help cancer patients focus on their recovery and improve their quality of life. We believe no one should be without treatment because they can’t afford it. We do not donate money for research. We’re here to specifically help people going through cancer.
Our Board

Dee is the founder of Courage Under Cancer Foundation and a two-time cancer survivor of an aggressive stage 4 cancer. Dee is the author of Courage Under Cancer; 31 days of hope, inspiration, and encouragement. Her determination to beat cancer and help those that can’t afford treatment is what makes the foundation vital for our community and beyond. Dee’s spirit and positive attitude are contagious and uplifting by nature. She is married to an amazingly supportive husband Jerry. Dee also has a very supportive daughter and two wonderful grandchildren.

Jason’s career expands over 34 years. He has worked in a few industries including Semi-Conductor, Software and Medical Products.
Jason is currently an advisor at Ashcreek Financial Advisors. . An entrepreneur at heart, he and his wife also own a pest control company, Jax Pro Pest Control.
He has been recognized for his performance in the Top 500 of Advisor and has been feature on the cover of Business and Finance magazine.
He co-authored a best-selling book called Winning Ways.
He has been married for 30 years. He and his wife have two children who are working toward careers in the medical field.
In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors, reading, spending time with his family, and giving back.

Dee Van Houten has over 25 years experience in the business financial industry. starting out at 22 after graduating top of her class from an accounting school in Tucson she moved to California where she started in construction. After several years moved back to Arizona to be closer to her family.
She started out in Construction working for a local general contractor and worked there for several years leaving to start her own accounting business. All her clients are referrals and has had DVH Accounting Services since 2006 (prior name was DC Support Services).
She has been married for 16 years and has two sons. In her spare time before and after tax season – she enjoys entertaining in her home, movies and traveling.

Barbara and her husband moved to Arizona, from Oregon in 2017, where she was active on several non-profit and school Boards also chairing the Women Business Leaders of Eugene. She successfully helped raise funds for the March of Dimes for 3 yrs. She currently serves on the Board for Courage Under Cancer Foundation and is very active with the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce.
Barbara knows the emotional and physical devastation of cancer not only to the cancer patient themselves but also to the family and friends left behind. She lost her dad to cancer, one of her close friends and her 3 children lost their father to cancer.
Barbara has her bachelor’s degree in accounting. She has prepared taxes for over 25 years specializing in small businesses. She knows the importance of having several streams of income.
She has been a Customer with Melaleuca for 33yrs and an Executive Director for over 24 years.
She is passionate about helping others change their lives physically and financially.

Erik is a rare Arizona native, Erik was raised in Mesa and spent most of his life in the East Valley. After graduating from Mesa’s Westwood High School, he attended MCC and then ASU, where he studied Music Performance & Business.
Erik, the Director of Operations & Marketing for Friendly Auto Centers in Mesa, takes great pride in his award-winning Auto Repair Shop & employees. Erik strives to provide quality service, delivered with genuine warmth & friendliness while maintaining the high level of integrity Friendly Auto Centers is known for.
Erik keeps his performance urges under control by singing with the Sonoran Desert Chorale and has been on 3 European tours with this group. When not working, traveling, or singing, you can find Erik living in Apache Junction where he enjoys gardening.
Erik is passionate about the Courage Under Cancer Foundation and helping cancer patients because he is no stranger to the effects of cancer. Erik serves on the Board of Directors in memory of his Nana Eloisa Arriola who lost her battle with cancer in 1997.

Mike Lamb is a writer, marketing coach, and business owner. He’s a long-time radio personality and founder of SKY 7 Entertainment Group which operates four SKY 7 Digital music channels. He’s also a Co-Founder of SMRBA, the Superstition Mountains Regional Business Alliance, a networking and business group for the East Valley.

Maren grew up in Tempe, Arizona, and loves the Arizona desert. Maren briefly left the desert to attend Stanford University for a degree in economics and then to pursue a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration at Brigham Young University. Since 2001, Maren has practiced personal injury law as the lead litigation attorney at Tobler Law, PC. Maren has litigated catastrophic injury cases involving a bike, ATV, auto, truck, and plane crashes. Maren has also litigated cases involving devastating injury from defective products and medical malpractice. Maren has served as the Chairperson of the Personal injury and Negligence section of the Maricopa County Bar Association; on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Association for Justice, and on the Board of Governors of the American Association of Justice. What Maren most enjoys about her practice is finding justice for her clients while making the world a little safer, one case at a time, for her own two daughters.

Micah has had a career in service for over 25 years in industries of hospitality and financial backgrounds.
Micah is currently a life insurance specialist that brokers only with carriers that provide robust living benefits. His passion comes from his life experiences, testimonials and caring heart.
Micah and his family moved 3 years ago from Colorado and have made Arizona home. He and his wife have been married for 13 years and have an amazing 11-year-old son.
Some of Micah’s hobbies include woodworking, skiing, enjoying the beach and salt water fishing.
